Game 1 Summary - Fennville at. Hopkins

LOSS

Fennville had a tough first match up with the Vikings. Size was a huge factor in the decision with each hopkins starter with the advantage. Also lack of experience hindered the Hawks. Hopkins started 5 seniors and Fennville only started 2, only one of which was on the team last year.

Game 2 Summary  - Fennville at Decatur

WIN

Fennville had a bit of a swagger walking into the gym.With the outlook favoring the Hawks. With good defense in the first half allowed the Hawks to go into the break with a pretty sizeable lead. Even with the lead the BlackHawks continued to play hard and ran away with the victory.

Game 3 Summary - Fennville at Bridgman

LOSS

The Hawks came ready to play this game against the Bees. At the end of the first quarter the hawks found themselves with a ten point lead. Although with poor rebounding and bad shot selection, the Bees were able to fight back and have the advantage at the half. The Hawks kept fighting hard but could not overcome the deficit.

Game 4 Summary - Fennville at Lawton

WIN

This trip down to Lawton pitted the Blackhawks against the Blue Devils. The Hawks anticipated a good match up with the S.A.C. South opponent. With great rebounding and good shooting the Hawks managed a win against the Devils. Raymond Alsip lead the Hawks with 22 points with 5 three pointers.

Game 5 Summary- Fennville vs. Manistee

LOSS

With a strong first half the Hawks managed a double-digit lead at the half. Although the Chippewa's came out of the half with  a full court press. The Hawks became lackadaisical with the ball and allowed the Chippewa's back into the game. The Chippewa made some late plays, while the Blackhawks missed some free-throws. The Blackhawks had once last chance but a final shot was stolen which ended the Blackhawks chance for a victory.

Game 6 Summary -Fennville vs. Martin

WIN

Fennville out hustled the Clippers in the first half, this allowed the Blackhawks to build a 17pt half-time lead.. Great defense in the second half allowed the Hawks to maintain that lead. When a group of resevers stepped on tth floor they kept up the intensity when they got the chance to play. Phillip Burgos came in and scored 6 points in 3 minutes of play time.

Game 7 Summary - Fennville at Saugatuck

LOSS

Fennville played with great energy in the first half of their rivilary game with Saugatuck. Fennville was down 12 at halftime to the Indians becasue of poor decisions on offense as well as some missed oppurtunities to score. The Blackhawks displayed some of the heart and passion that Coach Klingler has been looking for all season in the second half of the game. The battled back in the third quarter to be only down 4 going into the 4th quarter. Some timely turnovers hurt the Blackhawks down the stretch when they had oppurtunities to tie the game up. Saugatuck did a great job down the stretch of knocking down thier free-throw.

 

Game 8 Summary - Fennville vs. Marcellus

WIN

For not playing a game for three weeks the Blackhawks handled their business and took care of the Tigers. The Blackhawks got up early on Marcellus thanks in part to a solid defensive effort from David Flower. With David patroling the middle of the lane the tigers had a tough time finding the the basket. Marcellus battled their way back into the game and were only down 2 points heading into the fourth quarter. For the first time all season the young Blackhawks controlled the forth quarter with solid defensive play, great team offense, and knocked down their free-throws. Raymond Alsip lead Fennville in scoring finishing in double digits were LC Cooper.

 

Game 9 Summary - Fennville at Bangor

LOSS 30-62

Fennville's inexpeirence showed up in this showdown with an honorable mention ranked Bangor team. Fennville hanged tough in the first quarter even while shooting the ball poorly. The second quarter ended with the Blackhawks going scoreless for the final 3 minutes and they were down 26-12 to the vikings. The second half proved to be much of the same inconsitenties that have slowed the blackhawks this season, poor finishing, turnovers, and playing with little confidence or pride.

Game 10 Summary - Fennville vs. Bloomingdale

WIN  56-49

Alot of times when high school teams don't have school, they tend to start a game a little sluggish and slow. This was not the case with Fridays game against the visiting Cardinals. The Blackhawks opened the first quarter of play with a commanding lead. Foul troubled plagued Fennville the entire night, but strong play from David Flower and Ricky Flores propelled the Blackhawks to victory. Andy Carson led the Cardinals with 33 points, most of his points came of his own second chance oppurtunities.

Game 11 Summary - Fennville at Watervliet

WIN 55-39

Coach Klingler stated after the game that in his 5 years of coaching at Fennville, playing at Watervliet has always been difficult. Not sure if it is the drive, gym, or the effort the panthers always put forth. Fennville has struggled to play well there. Thanks to a more engerigized 2nd half, the Blackhawks slowly built a lead of solid defense. Raymond Alsip lead Fennville with 22 points, LC Cooper had 13 points off the bench.
